My Booze Heck returns to the Moseley Hive 1 week today. Wednesday 13th November. 7 - 9pm. An informal, free, non-judgy session where we talk about the aspects, (good and bad) of being sober/"California sober", and our own unique relationships with the old sauce.  Following on from September's talk, we will focus on people’s experience of Stoptober and other abstinence months (Dry January, etc), the prospect of the festive season without booze (my second), with Life Coach Alex Hyde giving a presentation on Self Talk; exploring why we feel the need to indulge our habits; be they booze, substances, exercise, or food. Tickets are free/pay as you can, with proceeds paying for the samosas, and a donation to Moseley Hive. My Booze Heck - Why?

The phrase My Booze Hell was once a tabloid mainstay, used to describe the descent into madness and chaos which public figures experience when booze is featuring heavily in their lives. I'm no public figure, and my experience wasn't a descent into chaos. It was, for the most of it, really good fun. I met new people, laughed uproariously, and if there was an element of chaos, it was the good chaos. The good shit. I've chosen My Booze Heck as the name for the event, and the associated podcast and blog, as Heck is a softer, gentler, minced-oath version of hell, reflecting my booze experience. Not hellish, and more of a stumble than a descent, but certainly with an aspect of heck, in an "Ooh, 'eck!" way. 10 months ago (and a stone lighter), I made a change,  but was it as sudden as it appeared, and as my friends thought?
